Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny has died in an Arctic penal colony, according to the country’s prison service, triggering condemnation from western leaders who blamed President Vladimir Putin for his demise.

US President Joe Biden was among the western leaders who were quick to suggest Navalny’s death was caused by the Russian government.
