A Beijing property billionaire whose bid to rebuild the Crystal Palace failed three years ago says it is his “dream” to take another run at the project despite the obstacles he encountered during his first attempt.
In 2013 Ni Zhaoxing’s Zhongrong Group entered into exclusive talks with Bromley borough council in south London to rebuild the Victorian structure that housed the Great Exhibition of 1851 and burnt down in 1936.
But the talks lapsed in March 2015 after Mr Ni and the council failed to agree on a common vision for the structure, which would have been rebuilt on its old foundations in Crystal Palace Park.
