Donald Trump has said the US must “condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy” in the wake of two mass shootings over the weekend that claimed at least 30 lives.
“These sinister ideologies must be defeated,” Mr Trump said from the White House on Monday, speaking about the attacks in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. “Hate has no place in America. Hatred warps the mind, ravages the heart, and devours the soul.”
Mr Trump said that in the two decades since the deaths of 12 students and one teacher at Columbine High School in Colorado, “our nation has watched with rising horror and dread as one mass shooting has followed another, over and over, decade after decade”.
