Three former Taiwanese military officials have been arrested by Taiwan on suspicion that they were spying for China, the latest in a string of arrests that highlight the continued conflict in cross-strait relations despite increasing economic ties.
Taiwan’s military began an investigation into Chang Chih-hsin, a former head of the political warfare division at the navy’s meteorology and oceanography office, in March this year, shortly before his retirement, Taiwan’s defence ministry said.
A spokesperson said two other former personnel had been arrested but declined to give details of their titles.
