Airbusfaces the loss of an order for 10 A380 aircraft with a list price of $3.8bn after Hong Kong Airlinescancelled its lossmaking all-business class service to London.
“Our current plan is to add A330 and A320 aircraft to our fleet and not A380s,” said Yang Jianhong, president of the carrier, a unit of China’s sprawling Hainan Airlines Group (HNA).
Hong Kong Airlines decided this month to focus on short, regional routes going forward, Mr Yang said, following losses on the long haul London-Hong Kong route. “From now on, we will adopt a cautious approach to launching any more long-haul services.” he added.
