In a world full of automotive woes, there was finally some good news this week for carmakers in Britain when Nissan announced 1,100 jobs would be secured in Sunderland with the production of its latest model, the Qazana, at its Wearside plant from next year.
The decision, which comes weeks after it said it was to axe 1,200 of 5,000 workers at the plant, may provide some job security to those who remain.
But it also came on the heels of predictions this week from the Engineering Employers Federation (EEF) that more than 140,000 manufacturing jobs would be lost this year - with the car and auto components sectors among those worst affected.
